  • Hair Extensions- Wedding day and every day !

All your life you've dreamt of thicker, longer... -it's okay you can say it- sexier hair. Maybe you're blonde and you've had your share of "fry-lights" and now your hair is in recovery. . . Maybe you're like me and you have the short end of the stick with the fine hair life... it's pretty boring and not holding a curl the same as your besties no matter what you do or how you style it. I've got one word for you, and it's a saving grace... Extensions And No, they're not just for the bad a boujie... and their joys reach well beyond wedding day bridal beauty. Many of my brides ask the same questions about damage and whether or not they'll be obvious.. Because we've all seen that one girl where her bonding was messed up and flying high in the breeze, or heard a story about them ruining a friends hair forever... That's what we are all here for, Real talk about extensions. It's about the method chosen for YOUR hair as well as the application. . . And I'm sorry but the other 50% is your home care maintenance and what's realistic for your lifestyle. Extensions have come a looong way and there are different types of application methods for a reason that goes beyond looks. Companies like Hot Heads and Great Lengths are constantly improving their bonding and products so we may continue to give our clients the best results without the damage. But their innovation only goes so far if your stylist is untrained in them all to share their differences on the least. SO... What method are you thinking ? Tape in (upto a year with moveup every 6 weeks) Hand tied wefts (upto a year with moveup every 6 - 7 weeks) Keratin bonding (4-6 months no maintenance, new hair each time) Clip ins (wear as needed throw in bag pull out again when you want to get fancy) A quick google search will define them on detail for you specifically by way of application but if you're here I am sure you're already researching. Also...I dont condone self diagnosis of which is best for whom- that's best done at a consultation, which I do for my brides in my home studio or in the privacy of their homes (install too). During the consultation we go over your lifestyle, expectations from hair extensions, color match for a perfect blend, determine the method and how much hair is needed to achieve your best hair day, and finally the maintenance. What's best for brides? Consider hair extensions long before wedding day. I recommend trying them 6 months prior to wedding day if choosing anything other than clip ins. That way adjustments can be made and you'll know your comfort. Typically I find that once you try them, life is so amazing you never want to go back, and that's where I get to see my brides again and again and again for their hair extension maintenance. Remember, your hair is an investment. There is a different price point for each application method but at the end of the day know you're paying for 100% top quality Remy human hair as well as the expertise and training to do your hair extensions safely and beautifully so you can rock it like a Pinterest model on your wedding day and every day !!!

  • Bridal beauty and your bridesmaids

It never fails.. When I mention that I am a bridal stylist the first question is usually centered around the pressures and added drama of the day due to bridezillas. They're quite rare actually.. They ask about the excitement, the beautiful venues, and the skill it must take to do what we do with so many personalities involved on wedding day. Pause for thanks, because Yes, that is a HUGE part of what we do as bridal stylists (and stylists of all kinds)... Cater to all types of personalities. So in my experience, likely because I have the best brides, the trouble can come from the next best thing... the bridesmaids. Not necessarily the maid of honor or anyone specifically, but from the moment they, too, said "YES", the pressure is on for the ladies you hold dearest to your heart to make your wedding day picture perfect. Think about it. Bridal shower Dress shopping Bachelorette Party Help with vendor choices Help with everything choices More dress shopping ... until "That's the one!!" and now... Hair and Makeup Everything up until that last one was happily about you, and now the big day has arrived and we're deciding beauty feels. For the average bride, no big's, but for some here is where that one friend doesn't like her hair parted to the left or in an up-do for the pretty and absolutely Pinterest worthy photos you pictured. Or perhaps there's one or two who don't wear a lot of makeup, so they've decided to opt out for the lashes, or makeup entirely, to do their own..... ..................................................... Truth. Being a bridesmaid should feel like an honor, not an obligation. and still... beauty and a bridesmaid with a smile is kind of part of the job. More often than not, when this seemingly unavoidable, tension pending, friendship awkwardly spiraling into a category 5 hurricane moment happens day of the wedding, hair and makeup artists are left dealing with the elephant in the getting ready space. The day has begun spending precious moments deciding, changing, doing, undoing, redoing, deciding what to do for this bridesmaid to make her happy with her beauty too all while not stressing the bride out. Okay that was dramatic... but truly it happens more often than you'd think. In honor of your bridesmaids and them feeling the warmth and how special they are to you, we always suggest discussing hair and makeup with them prior to wedding day. Once you've chosen your hair and makeup artist, scroll their Instagram accounts, with them and find hairstyles that you love and that make them feel pretty and ready to celebrate! If you sense one or two of them may be a little unsure of what they'd like for one reason or another, you may even offer them a trial, as a gift, with your hair and makeup artist to help them decide how they'll like their beauty to look and feel as well. ( yes it's a thing that not just reserved for the "MOB"). They'll thank you. We'll thank you. And you'll thank yourself ! #bridesmaids #bridezilla #weddingday #brideadvice

  • Choose wisely for your bridal hair

You're at your bridal hair trial with your stylist, you've pinned some inspiration pics and dug up that awful photo of yourself as a bridesmaid. You know, that one you 'untagged' yourself in on Instagram. It resurfaces now only for you to say something like, "my hair just never holds a curl," or worse " I hated my hair that day". In fact, that experience likely convinced you that you would have it all figured out for your own wedding. So for a while now, you've known just about every detail of your wedding day; especially your hair. Or so you thought... Before you go setting your heart to a certain hairstyle, and potentially ending up with another disaster, let's consider some key factors here. Your venue and the time of year When and where you're getting married will always contribute to the longevity and results of your hair. Humidity, indoor or outdoor photos, wind, beachy breeze, and let's not forget the heat heat heat! Your dress This may seem obvious, though aside from the design and overall style you've chosen, the material can also play a part in your hair frizzing or loosening unwanted strands when it comes in contact or gets stuck on the beaded or textured details! Your hair color and thickness This is a big one. We all love big and glorious romantic hair, but extensions may be an unsung hero when mimicking that Pintrest fav, as they're not just for length. Does your inspo pin have a dimensional blonde model but you're a natural brunette? Your face Yeah, I said it.. your face. While were all beautiful, not everybody can pull off the side swept bang with a teased crown without looking like a hat. Just remember there is always a way of softening these styles to compliment your shape and natural partings. Your haircut Romantic styles are amazing, and while I clearly love the timeless trend I'm often pointing out to my brides to be the length and thickness of their desired loose strands for their updo and whether or not they should be trimmed or reconsidered for best placement and effect. All things considered, even if your date is smacked in the middle of the Florida heat on a humid day by the beach, it doesn't mean you can't have your curls either! You likely need to have your stylist stay at least until your ceremony for touchups and details so your wedding day photos don't look like that flash back I mentioned earlier.
